while all mentioned fixes are dandy and nice, i think an updated answer to two far more serious questions need some answering...

what about rankings?
what about secure logins?

if those get fixed, nothing else really needs fixing

Deadcode, I've looked and this has yet to be answered, other than your response to Redwraith's extensive list of suggestions saying you need the code. I was under the impression that you were collecting Cleanair's source, but would still like just athe slightest reassurance. So...., are you eventually going to get this and work on ranks/logins???? I truly appreciate everything else you are doing/have done for the game. A simple yes or no will indefinitely shut me up.

Thanks

so, is the patch under work? Just thought to check after a couple months to see if it was true... I'll still wait, patiently.

I don't care if it takes 5 years. As long as there IS a patch, I'm happy. It can take as long as they want!

Plus, while waiting months for the patch, there's always W3D to play, plus there are OTHER games out there, too. If you like Turn-based games, try Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic. It's a turn-based strategy with some RPG elements. It's fun if you like fantasy.

What happened the AFK idea that skips worms' turns when enabled?
When I first posted it, almost nobody seemed to like it, but I hardly heard anyone mention it still.
Would it suffice for the pausing need some people have?

Edit: Also, I want to know why, sometimes, if someone has lagged for a long time, the screen turns crazy colours and the game usually freezes.
Is that a bug you've heard of? That's happened to me several times.

People have talked about the afk idea. I think that idea is a hell of a lot better than the pause feature. pause is stupid, afk is sweet idea.

No, I think we will get the patch already in about one year.

Geez, I hope it doesn't take that long. There was talk of making it a public beta program, and I really hope Team17 decides on that. I think it'd be ideal, especially as it's exactly the sort of thing my efforts at backwards-compatibility have been targeted to facilitate. But the release is still beyond my control at this point.

If one doesn't want to make the patch public before it's finished and you need a beta tester I offer my help to you. I'd like to be a beta tester if needed / possible.

If the patch really were released earlier than one year, it would be very cool! I said "I think we will get the patch already in about one year" because I know how long we are waiting already for beta3 and how long we had to wait for beta2. Still I see it more optimistic than others: 1 year is much shorter than 7 years.

Have you posted any pre-releases of the ßeta patch? I'm sure I saw one posted somewhere.
Did you want us to report bugs found in those?

Yup, theres a pre-release on my site, near the bottom of the programs page. Visit http://www.worms3d.net/ or http://www.j0e.org/ , whichever link suits you better I think it's still hotlinked off the www site, but i haven't gotten around to changing it yet. Enjoy

I talked with Dave (yesterday?) or so about the pause thing and in theory it's sorted - I kind of mixed the way pausing works in a few other games I play and threw the suggestion at Dave, and it seems to be ok.

This patch is a very early pre-release. There is almost no difference to beta2. I have got this patch already since about a year.

worms "fiddler"

Does any one think that Team17 should release a licenced program that emulates the fiddler program but has an easier interface and posably works with in worms. A program that could set rules for roperaces or shopping matches and such. I'm not sugesting that this be incorperated in the beta patch3 due to a ton of programing. but perhaps in a futer patch.

It would work within W:A in the sence that you have the terain editor and in a seperate button yu have the match rules, and you have the weapons editor, amd you have the misc (such as setting water color, and gravity levels, weapons/health drop probabilities.

Just an idea

Hey Joe

Blame TonY,

He's the one said you were going to help "keeper" on page 6 or 7.. no matter though... at least YOU didn't get banned....lol

ummm and that link above that takes you to a post you had made earlier in this bord could be considered a bit risky.... e-mail team17 about it or a moderator at least. I can see by the post that you didn't mean any harm by it. after all you did say that you should own the orriginal.

Any one else have a coment about this (off topic yes but lets keep this thread going it's pretty long.)

Cade Sinclair

ßeta patch? What's a sseta patch?

You're absolutely right about the scharfes s, but this forum doesn't support extended Unicode, and I wrote it differently for most people to understand. How come Wormnet displays the scharfes s instead of the real Greek letter? That's not a suggestion though.

A few Hispanics who don't use the forum have supported my idea of putting more flags on Wormnet. The Spain flag is really overused, but I am not sure if enough people notice this for more flags to be considered for the imminent patch.
Some Chilean wormers have even started to use the Puerto Rico flag due to circumstances.

do you mean a crate falls on a frozen worm and then the worm collects it after it 'thaws'? I thought that was what happened, and if so, I don't see how it should be considered a bug.

Ooh, I wasn't aware of that one. I'll look into it. Thanks Glenn.

Worms normally act as crate repellent (along with oil drums and other crates) so I don't see a reason why frozen worms shouldn't as well.

Actually, I already fixed that. :-) It used a global /WHO outside the channel, but individual /WHOIS commands inside.

For Deadcode

Reading through the forum an interesting question was posed, How do the staff of Team 17 feel about the Fiddler program. And I see that you are a respected individual recieving the "TEAM17 HELPER" above your avatar, so I am as well interested in your oppinion. Do you feel that such a program could be benificial to worm net if nested in the W:A Program itself as sugested before? Or Should Players not have so much control over the game's variables.

Re: For Deadcode

Reading through the forum an interesting question was posed, How do the staff of Team 17 feel about the Fiddler program. And I see that you are a respected individual recieving the "TEAM17 HELPER" above your avatar, so I am as well interested in your oppinion. Do you feel that such a program could be benificial to worm net if nested in the W:A Program itself as sugested before? Or Should Players not have so much control over the game's variables.

Fiddler-like customizability is definately something I'm planning. But I won't implement it until I've first implemented a scheme-comparator function, that will compare a host's scheme with all of your own schemes, find the most similar one, and show you the list of differences. Otherwise there will be way too many surprises.
